Arctic Pictures

February, 2005

These pictures were taken by some men in the navy who are stationed on the U.S.S. Honolulu which is a "Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine." They are currently in the Arctic Circle, about 280 miles from the North Pole.

Here is the U.S.S. Honolulu submarine coming to the surface.

These polar bears seem very curious about the submarine. Do you think they are wondering if this is some new kind of animal that has moved to their waters?

This polar bear appears a bit afraid to get too close.
What do you think he is thinking right now?

Here is another curious bear!
